It is not often you have to go from 7,500 ft to 8,900 ft for a great coffee but that is exactly what we did in Estes Park Colorado. Catch the aerial tram to the top of Prospect Mountain and you will you get fabulous views of Estes Park and the Rocky Mountains National Park. The bonus is a really well made coffee. Finally a cappuccino to enjoy and share with the view.

The volunteer at the Estes Park Visitor Center told us if you have come for a dining experience you have come to the wrong place. Translation, the food in Estes Park is not very good, and so it turned out to be.

The only difference between Sturgis and Estes Park is we could not find a tattoo shop. Made in China souvenirs on steroids is Estes Park. You come here for the scenery, and what scenery it is starting with the ride from Loveland up the Big Thompson River Canyon Rd and beyond over the Continental Divide on Trail Ridge Rd. Reaching an altitude of 12,183 ft at Fall River Pass. It is the highest continuous road in the USA. Even in high summer snow is all around and the weather is unpredictable, but for us a sunny but cold day.

After indulging ourselves in glorious scenery, great coffee and lousy food it is off down another scenic byway, the Peak to Peak Highway onto Idaho Springs from where we intend to summit Mt. Evans.
